Why I'm Impressed
The little known secret that my friends and family have known about for years…. The elevation from a Kamp Rite tent is way more comfortable than sleeping on the uneven bumpy ground of a regular tent.
The elevation is important for two main reasons. One of course is that you avoid the bumps of the dirt ground where you're camping. And Kamp Rite does this quite well. For those of you that are worried about weighing too much. This tent has been tested with campers that are significantly overweight, and there hasn't been a single product recall.
That is simply outstanding for an elevated camping tent.
The second reason is to avoid snakes and the wet or moist camping grounds. The wet ground is not the end of the world by any means. I've slept on wet ground before, and it wasn't that big a deal. But I would prefer to remain dry well sleeping. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience.
But the snakes… you really do not know how freaky or dangerous sleeping on the ground is until you experience a wake up call for yourself.
About 4 years ago, I woke up to a big old garden snake about 2 feet away from my head. I'm rather fortunate that it was just a garden snake. But I have heard horror stories of campers that have been attacked by vicious predators that roam on the ground. And I simply would not want to take the chance.
Now the 2 downsides to this product.
The first one is the size of this monster. Even packaged up, it is quite large. This is not a problem if you transport it by vehicle. But if you plan on carrying it a long distance by hand, make sure you do some bicep curls before camping this season.
And the second thing is that it's more expensive than a typical camping tent. But in it's defense, it really does not cost that much more. And you get quite a lot of added value for the extra cost. It's way more comfortable and also more safe. So for an extra $50 or so, it's a worthwhile upgrade for most campers.
