Should you get a sleeping bag for your toddler?
Bedtime can be a difficult scenario for many parents with young children. Sleeping bags are an often
over-looked implementation that can work wonders. Read on to learn how switching from conventional bedding to a sleeping bag can have a tremendous positive impact, as well as ease some of the stresses of parenting a young child.
There are several advantages to having your toddler sleep in a sleeping bag. First and foremost, most young children associate sleeping bags with camping, or traveling, which automatically makes it cool. Any deviation from their routine and dreaded bedtime can yield very positive results. With a little bit of creativity and the help of your child’s imagination, you can have him or her thinking of bedtime as a fun activity, or even an adventure.
Aside from that, it’s incredibly convenient. Most toddlers don’t exactly excel at making their own beds.
When he or she is sleeping regularly in a sleeping bag, there’s no more need to make the bed every morning.
Just zip it up!
Another great advantage is realized when it’s time to travel. It can often be very difficult to get a toddler adjusted enough to foreign surroundings to actually get to sleep (at a reasonable hour). With his or
her very own sleeping bag, you create portable familiarity, so your toddler can be comfortable sleeping in a
new place.

If you are considering getting a sleeping bag for a younger child, perhaps an infant, there is one big
positive to take into account. Often times, children will accidentally kick their blankets off in the middle of the night. When this happens, the toddler’s temperature can drop to an uncomfortable level, and then you can probably guess how the baby reacts. However, if you have your toddler in a sleeping bag, it is much less likely to become uncovered, resulting in a much more peaceful night of sleep for everyone in the house!
When purchasing a sleeping bag for your toddler, be sure to get one that is the appropriate size. A large sleeping bag can spell trouble, as they can sometimes easily slide down inside.
So what are the cons? Well, unless you’ve grown attached to difficult bedtimes, constant bed making, and restless nights, there really aren’t any!
